An Post employee raises money for Ballinasloe Cancer Support

Inspired to do something for charity, An Post Sorting Centre employee Jacqui Thacker decided to take the step of growing her hair long for Rapunzel, an organisation that makes wigs for those affected by cancer treatments and/or alopecia.

Following this, Ms Thacker spoke with her colleague, Bridie Liggit, about raising funds for a local service to remember their colleagues who had passed on.

Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre was suggested, and those working in administration at the centre happily agreed. Along with the hair donation sponsorship, they held a tea-cakes event at work on Friday, October 16. One of the An Post Sorting Centre male managers even wore a pink wig to give a fun boost to the fundraising, which was a great success.

On Friday, October 23, Jacqui and Bridie walked into The Ballinasloe Cancer Centre and presented a cheque for €815.97 as well as a cheque from CWU, their work union, for €50, in total a donation of €865.17.

Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre offers emotional support, practical help and information in a safe, friendly, positive, and confidential environment. All of the cancer support services are provided free of charge. For further information visit www.ballinasloecancersupport.com
