Namoste Athlone: Movember launches ‘Moga’

Movember is back and this year it aims to get the Irish public flexing their muscles while raising awareness and funds for men’s health.

‘Moga’ is being rolled out as an alternative to growing a moustache this Movember. It is an initiative to encourage people across Ireland to get active by joining a yoga course while simultaneously raising awareness and funds for men’s health.

Some 50 per cent of the cost of each eight-week course will go directly to Movember to fund programmes the organisation runs in partnership with the Irish Cancer Society as well as the Movember Foundation’s GAP research initiatives.

For the entire month of October, Bikram Yoga, Athlone, will host Moga. The style of yoga is Hatha Vinyasa, a flowing form of yoga that challenges strength, flexibility, and stamina, while uplifting and calming the mind. This year’s Moga sequence has been designed by Sinead O’Connor, a leading instructor based in Dublin.

Speaking about the Moga sequence, Ms O’Connor says: “Finding time to step away from the daily grind is so important for both your inner and physical wellbeing. The course allows Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to take that time, while also taking a stand and raising vital awareness about men’s health.”

Aimed at raising funds and awareness for men’s health, MOVE is a global initiative being rolled out for the first time this year across 21 countries worldwide. Those interested can sign up for a Moga course at Bikram Yoga, Athlone.
