Moate Community School fundraiser in association with Moate Meats

A Moate Community School fundraiser will take place in Moate Meats on October 10.

The fundraiser is the brainchild of Kitt Gillivan, owner of Moate Meats, who is both hosting and sponsoring the event. Popular TV3 chef Adrian Martin will be on hand on the night to provide two cooking demonstrations for attendees. Adrian is an associate craft butcher chef who worked with Neven Maguire for six years.

He will be doing demonstrations with some of Moate Meats’ gourmet products and ready-to-cook meals. Moate Meats was recently commended for its ready-meal selection, winning second in the Craft Butchers Association Awards.

Kit Gillivan said of the upcoming event: “It is going to be a fun, light-hearted night. Adrian Martin is someone who is as interested in people as he is in food. We are bringing what we sell in our shop to the public in a relaxing environment. It promises to be a great night and all are welcome to attend.

“We do fresh fish, gourmet products, ready-cooked meals and a range of gluten-free products, and we source all of our meats locally. We are promoting what we have while at the same time raising money for a great cause in Moate Community College.”

Tom Lowry, principal at Moate Community School, said: “Kit approached me with this idea, which is fantastic. It is seldom you get people ringing you offering their help. Usually, it is the other way around. We are a secondary school with a further education section. We have about 1,300 pupils in total and a lot of expenses in terms of administration and sports facilities.

“The school has a very good partnership with the local sports club here, we share some of the facilities, so I thought it would be a great idea to use the money for the development of sport, and for implementing our sports programme throughout the year. I’d like to thank Kit and everyone at Moate Meats for their generosity in holding this event.”

Tickets for the event can be purchased for €10 by calling (090 ) 6481350.
