Gardaí in Athlone are trying to return goods they believe to have been lost or stolen to their rightful owners.
The initiative is part of a pilot scheme that will allow members of the public to view online photographs of property in Garda possession that has yet to be claimed by the owners.
Pictures and description of the property in question are detailed on the Garda website www.garda.ie If a member of the public sees an item they believe may be their property, they should make contact with the appropriate station to arrange a viewing. The station in possession of the property is listed in each photograph’s description. As property is claimed, the photograph will be moved into the claimed property section of the website.
If you have lost property, or have had property stolen from you, that it is not listed in the photographs, you can contact your local Garda station to ascertain whether it has been handed over to them. Contact details for all Garda stations are also available at www.garda.ie
