The Late Late Toy Show is going on the road in search of the country’s best young performers to take part in the biggest night on Irish TV.
On October 13, Athlone hopefuls will get the opportunity to impress RTÉ’s judges and claim a spot on this year’s show.
For the first time ever host Ryan Tubridy and the Toy Show crew will be heading around the country to find the best singers, groups, and musicians to perform on this year’s show.
Ryan Tubridy said: “As everyone knows, the kids are the stars of the Toy Show. This country is jam-packed with young talent and this year we’re casting the net far and wide to make sure the country’s brightest young stars get their chance to shine. I’m really excited to take the show on the road in search of the budding entertainers that make the Late Late Toy Show the must-see TV event of the year.”
The auditions are invite-only so it is crucial that any talented youngsters who fancy appearing on the show get their application in now. Ryan will also bring his RTÉ Radio 1 show with him, broadcasting live from Athlone on the day of the auditions.
Toy Show producer, Katherine Drohan, said: “We are looking for the best performing groups, singers, and musicians, and thought it would be fun to hit the road, with Ryan, to find the most talented kids out there. It’s never been done before. Previously, all auditions took place in RTÉ studios, so we’re excited to hit the road. Whether you are part of a performing group, or just love singing into your hairbrush in front of the mirror, make sure you get in touch.”
To be in with a chance of featuring on the show, performers’ parents must download an application form and send it to RTÉ along with a DVD or USB key of their child or group in action. The closing date for entries is Monday, October 5, so time is of the essence.
“We are always on the look-out for the latest LEGO genius or Rubik’s Cube expert, but we also love to hear from kids who have interesting hobbies outside the top 10 toys,” said Ms Drohan. “That’s what was so great about Toy Show demonstrators John Joe Brennan, who wanted to be a horologist, and Douglas Oman, our budding fashion designer. Whatever your interest, if you have a toy obsession of any kind we want to hear from you.”
Last year, close to 1.4 million people watched the Toy Show. Application forms are available from www.rte.ie/tv/latelate/toyshowform html and should be sent, along with the DVD or USB key to Late Late Toy Show, PO Box 170, RTÉ, Dublin 4.
