Castledaly’s remarkable progression under manager John Donnellan continued with a stirring 0-18 to 1-12 Westmeath SFC semi-final win over Tyrrellspass at Cusack Park on Sunday.
Having narrowly avoided relegation last year Castedaly were not viewed by many as serious contenders at the outset of the campaign. That viewpoint wil have changed dramatically. Castledaly’s dynamic display means they will face St Loman’s, Mullingar, in the decider on October 11.
Keen to make an impact, Castledaly contributed handsomely to a free-flowing first half in which Lorcan Dolan, Niall Duffy, and Alan Stone all nailed important scores for Castledaly, with the teams departing level, 0-7 each, at the break.
Seven minutes after the restart Ray Sheridan pounced for a Tyrrellspass goal, but Castledaly responded admirably with Brendan Kelly, MJ Kelly, Dolan, and Stone prominent.
