An Evening of Song, in aid of the purchase of transport for St Hilda’s School in Athlone, in association with Athlone Rotary, has been launched.
The event itself will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Athone, on Friday, September 4, starting at 8pm.
Speaking at the launch last week, Athlone Rotary president Billy Nott said that the Rotary Foundation’s motto of ‘Doing Good in the World’ fully accorded with support for St Hilda’s Services.
CEO of St Hilda’s, Sheila Buckley-Byrne, said the school is delighted to be associated with the concert. She thanked all on behalf of the families and those who used the services. Funds raised will go towards the purchase of much-needed transport for the school.
Musical director of award-winning ladies choral group Athlone A Cappella, David Farmer, said they were looking forward to performing at the concert.
As an entrée, baritone Darren O’Hara then gave a rendering of ‘The Town I loved so Well’, followed by soprano Breda O’Connor with her family favourite ‘Danny Boy’ and both concluded with the duet ‘All I ask of You’. They were accompanied by Lupe Alvarez De Toledo on the piano.
Tickets for the event, at a cost of €20 and €15 (concessions ), can be obtained from Rotary Club: email [email protected], or at the reception in the Radisson Blu Hotel. Tickets can also be purchased from St Hilda’s - phone Sinéad on (090 ) 6475825 - or at the door on the night.
