Roscommon Arts Centre has just launched their summer events brochure and it is packed full of theatre, dance, music, comedy, and children’s events.
Comedy fans will be spoiled this summer with comedy giants Pat Shortt (May 9 ), Conal Gallen (May 14 and 15 ), and PJ Gallagher (June 19 ) all paying Roscommon Arts Centre a visit.
If it’s music you are after, the arts centre have got it covered with acts such as Ciarán O Maonlai and Caitling Nic Gabhann in concert on Tuesday May 19, vocal powerhouse Mary Coughlan (June 5 ), Hothouse Flowers frontman Liam O Maonalai (July 4 ), Irish Chamber Orchestra (July 15 ), Dervish (August 6 ), Brendan Bowyer (August 15 ), and three evenings of traditional music in Strokestown Park House on May 28, June 25, and July 30.
Theatre lovers will be enthralled with performances by Des Keogh in My Fair Ladies (May 23 ), Beezneez are back with their latest production Thy Will Be Done (July 7 ), and Roscommon favourite Seamus O’Rourke returns with his latest piece Indigestion (July 4 ).
There’s plenty to entertain the little ones this summer also. The Bookworms Children’s Literary Festival takes place on June 12 and 13 with Branar Theatre Company The Way Back Home and Monkeyshine’s The Magic Bookshop. The hugely popular Book Clinic is back by popular demand on June 13 so bring along your avid little readers to meet with the book doctor! Young film makers will love the Brick Flicks animation workshop on July 15 which helps children make their own animated film. The students of Majella Flanagan’s Theatre Company make a return to the stage with their production of The Wizard of Oz on May 29 and 30 - the perfect family event!
