Westmeath County Council is delighted to announce that Athlone has been successfully chosen as the location for the Pfizer/ Irish Times Healthy Town 2015 which will start this September and run for eight weeks.
The eight-week initiative combines health promotion events and physical activities to encourage people in Athlone to improve their health, with all events free of charge. Healthy Town will provide the participants with a range of free health promotion activities and facilities such as health checks, health information meetings, nutrition and cookery classes, and exercise programmes. The aim is to mobilise the community and give a sense of ownership over the initiative in order to get the maximum benefit.
