The Seychelles adoption of the school book Cracking Maths is certainly a tribute to the authors of the programme who include Joan Gilligan, Majella O’Connor, and Carmel Kelly of Brideswell National School, Athlone.
Gill & Macmillan’s primary maths programme Cracking Maths has inspired praise from teachers since its introduction to Irish schools in 2014. Since then, it is steadily gaining popularity in this country - and now it has found a home in the Seychelles, the 115-island country 1,500 kilometres east of mainland Southeast Africa, showing that the need for innovative learning tools is international and that quality travels.
