GOAL asking Westmeath companies to raffle a duvet day for staff

GOAL is offering companies from all over Westmeath the opportunity to give their hard-working employees a much-needed lie-in and day of relaxation, while contributing to a worthy cause.

Companies who sign up to a new fundraiser called GOAL Duvet Day will see them raffling tickets to employees, with the winning staff member receiving an extra day’s annual leave from work. The lucky employee will also receive a free pizza from the event sponsor, Apache Pizza.

GOAL CEO, Barry Andrews said, “GOAL Duvet Day is a fun way for companies to support GOAL’s work in the developing world, while also rewarding employees for their hard work.

“Employee-focused benefits such as GOAL Duvet Day increase employee/employer relations and have become a popular practice in the UK, US, and Canada.”

Andrews added: “GOAL has continued to respond to the devastating Ebola outbreak in West Africa. We recently opened a 100-bed Ebola treatment centre in Port Loko, Sierra Leone. In Syria, our food programme reaches an incredible 250,000 beneficiaries each month and we are delivering safe water to 210,000 people.

“Without public support for campaigns such as ‘GOAL Duvet Day’, we would not be able to reach these vulnerable men, women, and children.”

Tickets for GOAL Duvet Day are €10. All proceeds generated from the event will be used by GOAL to support some of its most urgent operations across its 16 countries of operation.

The aid agency are asking those who are taking part in the event to be mindful of those in the world who do not have a place to sleep. Five tickets (or €50 ) for Duvet Day will purchase a two-person tent in an emergency response.
