Strawberry Hill Jewellery & Antiques, newly open on Church Street, Athlone, specialises in extraordinary French and Italian antique furniture and chandeliers, as well as an array of beautiful unique jewellery.
Leisa Grant and her husband have been in the jewellery business for over 15 years, and prior to that Leisa ran a fashion boutique in Birr with her mum.
“All of our clients had one thing in common - they are women who have travelled and seen interesting things. They wanted their clothes, their accessories, and their homes to reflect them and their family’s lifestyle,” says Leisa.
“These women would always have a story to tell of shopping while they travelled and the most amazing things they found, whether it was a gorgeous Louis Vuitton handbag, a beautiful diamond eternity ring or solitaire, a pair of bronze candlesticks, or an antique oil painting. I began to think - why is this not all in one place?”
Leisa studied diamonds, coloured gemstones, and jewellery appraisal with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA ).
“I have always loved French and Italian chandeliers, mirrors, and furniture but it will be something new too - a huge array of jewellery from modern, minimalist silver designs to ornate vintage costume pieces that make a huge statement of an outfit; from antique diamond jewellery and coloured gemstones to everyday pieces in semi-precious stones.”
Leisa has also procured some vintage Rolexes, Cartier lighters and pens, Louis Vuitton bags, and other sought-after designer pieces. There will also be lots of fun cocktail napkins, hand towels, vintage champagne buckets, and much more, with prices starting from €8.
