Gardaí in Athlone are investigating a number of break-ins which occurred in the Athlone area over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
During the early hours of Saturday morning (April 4 ), Daybreak on the Dublin Road was broken into and cigarettes and a small quantity of cash stolen. Entry was gained to the premises at around 4am.
On bank holiday Monday (April 6 ), a break-in occurred at the parochial house in Tang at around 12.30pm; the culprit gained entry through a rear window but the alarm was activated and nothing was taken. Gardaí say a male in a small black car was seen nearby, and are anxious to speak to anyone who may have noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area.
They are also investigating the theft of a caravan from outside a home in Monksland over the weekend (between Saturday and Monday ). It is described as a Bailey Pageant Burgundy caravan which is shiny at the front and the rest of it a cloudy texture.
Anyone who has any information which would help gardaí with their enquiries into the above incidents is asked to contact Athlone Garda Station on (090 ) 6498550.
