Spring is here and we are all eager to shed those extra winter pounds. However before we start on any exercise programme, it is essential that our feet are in peak condition in anticipation of all this extra work!
Common problems encountered are ingrown toenail conditions, verrucae, corns, callus, athletes foot, and tendonitis, in addition to leg, lower back, ankle, knee, and hip strain.
Catriona at The Foot Clinic provides a chiropody service and treats all aspects of foot and leg pain at the following clinics:
Athlone: McGorisks Pharmacy, Athlone Towncentre, and Clonbrusk Primary Care Centre - every Friday
Roscommon: Molloys Pharmacy - Monday to Wednesday, Saturday
Boyle: Dr Loftus’ Surgery - alternate Thursdays
Treatments available include toenail conditions, verrucae, corns, callus, athletes foot, toenail cutting; diabetic footcare management; fallen arches/ flat feet, knock knees, and gait abnormality; and general foot pain - orthotics assessment and prescription.
The practice focuses not only on foot treatment but also on preventative and corrective measures. In addition to a full chiropody service, a biomechanical assessment service is also provided. This assessment analyses walking patterns, and orthotic supports may be recommended together with an exercise programme which can greatly assist with general foot, knee, and back pain.
The clinic also stocks a range of competitively priced products to assist with the many associated foot problems that may occur, such as fallen arches, ankle pain, hammer toes, calloused feet, and painful bunions. Many of these orthotics can also help with ankle, foot, knee, hip, and back pain.
Treatment for a range of sports-related injuries including tendonitis, plantar fascitis, and heel spurs is also provided by combining exercise plans with corrective orthotic supportive insoles. Customised supports are also available on request. Both adults and children are catered for.
Treatments start from €25, and patients are seen by appointment only. Call Catriona on (087 ) 2982214.
