A Woman’s Heart beats at Ballinasloe’s Folk Club

The Pillar House Folk Club, Ballinasloe’s firmly established intimate 80 seat venue, will play host to Eleanor McEvoy on Friday April 17 and Freddie White on Friday May 15.

Ireland’s internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Eleanor McEvoy released her latest album Stuff on the Moscodisc label last May.

Formerly a session musician, including a long stint with The National Symphony Orchestra, she decided whilst with The Mary Black Band, that she should cash in the savings and develop her own career. One week her life changed when Mary’s label owner heard Eleanor play a self-penned song that would give a name and title track to the all-woman compilation album A Woman’s Heart. Eleanor’s performances are intimate, emotional, uplifting affairs in which she explores soul, love, and humour, using own compositions and interpretations from other songbooks, with her unique voice and beautiful playing and no doubt The Folk Club audience in The Pillar House are in for a real treat on Friday April 17.

The Folk Club’s May gig is with the inimitable Freddie White. He has long been synonymous with music of the highest quality. Whether interpreting songs by his favourite writers, such as Randy Newman, Tom Waits, John Hiatt, and Guy Clark or performing his own classy compositions, Freddie’s live performances are nothing short of legendary, a sentiment which has been echoed many times by his Ballinasloe fan base since this date has been announced.

He has been part of the fabric of the live music scene in Ireland since the 1970s and his albums continue to sell well, amongst both his loyal and newfound fan base

Tickets are now available for Freddie’s gig on Friday May 15 and have already begun to sell well.

Tickets are available from The Pillar House. All tickets for the Folk Club are €20 and each concert begins at 9pm.
