Want to make a biodiversity plan for your area?

Westmeath County Council has issued an invitation to anyone who would like to prepare a biodiversity plan for their area. There is a two-day course commencing on Tuesday April 14 in the Greville Arms, Mullingar at 7pm. The second day will be run in May.

Sean Meehan of Irish Wildlife Trust is presenting the course and he will help groups form a plan for their area. The first night will cover topics such as what to look for, how to record, and what to put in the plan. Over the following month attendees will have the opportunity to examine what is in their area and find what hidden treasures are on their doorsteps. Mr Meehan’s advice and notes will assist attendees to know what to look for and how to record their findings. They will attend day two with all the information on the wild and wonderful habitats that they have gathered in their area, examine the findings, decide what to use, and make conclusions and recommendations.

This course is part of the council’s Environmental Awareness Programme and can be booked by emailing [email protected] or phoning (044 ) 9332125.
