This year sees Roscommon Lamb Festival celebrate its eighth year.
Aiming to highlight the quality of locally produced food as well as the many attractions across the town and county, this year’s festival will take place over the May bank holiday weekend from Wednesday April 29 to Monday May 4.
Along with celebrating Roscommon lamb, the festival encourages an air of creativity with some international flair and local fundraising.
Based on the fact that Roscommon has the highest lamb output per acre in the country, the festival celebrates lamb in a diverse range of food and farming events over the course of the weekend.
The majority of the events are free and the festival itself is a non-profit event.
Foodie highlights of the festival include a special farmer’s market in the town square on Friday May 1 from 10am and the Roscommon Lamb BBQ, Brazilian style in Hannon’s Hotel on Saturday May 2 from 8pm.
