From field to garden - establishing a productive garden

Some places are still available on The Organic Centre’s one day course to take place on February 7 at Rossinver in Co Leitrim. This course is designed for people who wish to transform a green field, unruly garden, or bare lawn into a beautiful, productive vegetable or herb garden. Ideally suited to new house owners who just don’t know where to start; if you wish to grow vegetables and feed yourself and your family, then this is the course for you!

Course tutor Jim Cronin has been growing herbs and vegetables on his farm in Co Clare for over 20 years. Under Jim’s expert tuition, course participants will learn how to choose a site, mark out a plot, deal with common weeds, pests, and disease problems, and discover how to drain, cultivate, and improve virgin soil. The day includes both practical and classroom sessions and has been running successfully at The Organic Centre for the last five years.

The course runs from 10am to 5pm and the cost for the day is €90 which includes complimentary tea/coffee and fresh organic scones and a light organic vegetarian lunch. To book a place please contact the Organic Centre on (071 ) 9854338 or you can book online at www.theorganiccentre.ie

This course is one of the many courses on offer through The Organic Centre’s 2009 course and training programme entitled ‘Learn How to Grow Your Own Food’.
