Michael Murphy is a broadcaster, psychoanalyst, and author well known from his appearances on radio and television, particularly from his psychoanalytic residency on RTÉ’s Today Show.
In emotionally powerful readings based on his three books At Five in the Afternoon, The House of Pure Being, and The Republic of Love, Michael and his guests - including Emer O’Kelly, Eamonn Lawlor, and Eileen Dunne - share deeply insightful reflections on love and sex, friendship and family. He makes the cancer journey with two inspiring women survivors in Spain: Helen, an explorer of the soul who undertakes a new life under the sun in her 50s; and Anna of the soaring human spirit, who turns the tables on a bullying male boss as only a woman can. These stories, the poetry, and the dreams that they carry demonstrate how hope and love can clear a pathway through the gravest of difficulties.
Stories, Poetry and Dreams has been described as an opera, because it celebrates the music of the human voice, and features a quartet of professional exponents, acknowledged for the beauty of their voices and interpretation. Thought-provoking and eloquent, this truthful evening invites audience participation, where people’s reactions and their own experiences add to the affirming spirit of what has been characterised as a most unusual and surprising event.
Michael Murphy comes to the Dean Crowe Theatre next Friday March 13. Tickets are priced at €20/17 and are available by calling (090 ) 6492129 or at www.deancrowetheatre.com
