Trócaire boxes are being delivered the length and breadth of Westmeath this week in preparation for the annual Lenten national campaign to raise funds for some of the poorest people in the world.
Last year people throughout County Westmeath helped to raise €471,539 to support Trócaire’s annual campaign. A total of €352,293 was raised through the Diocese of Meath and €119,246 through the Diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnois.
Éamonn Meehan, executive director of Trócaire, said: “The people of Westmeath have always supported Trócaire’s work. The donations from across the county last year provided relief and support to families and communities living in some of the poorest places on earth. Last year Trócaire’s work directly benefited 3.4 million people. This is only possible as a result of the generosity of communities across Ireland.”
Trócaire boxes are available from parishes, through trocaire.org or by phoning 1850 408 408.
