Athlone Arts and Tourism are delighted to announce that a selection of art works drawn from the Westmeath County Art Collections, showcasing art in Westmeath, will be shown in Luan Gallery during March/April 2015.
This exhibition will feature works from a variety of artists, all of whom are connected with Westmeath and will present a cross section of both landscape and abstract works. Although the subject matter is varied, each artwork is united by the fact that it celebrates County Westmeath.
The County Westmeath municipal art collection is ordinarily housed in municipal buildings around the locality. Bringing the works together in an exhibition is an accessible means of making the interesting collection known to the people of Westmeath.
Aedín McGinn, assistant manager at Athlone Arts and Tourism Ltd said: “County Westmeath has a varied, vibrant and valuable municipal art collection. We are thrilled to be able to take some of the works from their usual resting place in libraries and offices and present them in the gallery environment, showcasing the talent and creativity of the county.”
The exhibition will be officially launched on Friday March 6 at 6pm. There will be a drinks reception and all are welcome.
The exhibition runs from March 6 until April 26.
