Outdoor clothing brand Regatta have announced the creation of 10 new jobs in Athlone with the opening of their new store in Athlone Towncentre next month.
The store is due to open to the public on Thursday March 12, with the fit-out and recruitment process already under way. Regatta will occupy the unit that previously housed Barratts Shoes. Athlone Towncentre marketing coordinator Frieda Nevin described the new store as “a great addition to the centre”.
Brian Fox, Regatta country manager for Ireland, said: “We’re creating 10 new jobs in Athlone with our new Regatta store. We know it’s a thriving area, with some really exciting things happening which is exactly why we wanted to open our next store in Westmeath.
“Our product mix fits into every aspect of your life. Regatta products are super quality at affordable prices. We can kit out the entire family from head to toe. We’ll make you look good and keep you warm at the same time. It’s a simple idea but it works and we are committed to growing our business by 15 per cent this year.”
The new Athlone store follows the successful opening of Regatta’s flagship store in Swords in November last year.
“We anticipate this growth will double the amount of people we already employ from 50 to 100 - the Swords flagship store created 10 jobs alone and we’re creating 10 more in Athlone,” added Mr Fox.
The news comes as speculation grows that department store TK Maxx will be ready to take over several units in Athlone Towncentre later this year.
