The hugely entertaining and comical play Bookworms by Bernard Farrell opens this Friday February 20 at Athlone Little Theatre. The play is the latest offering from the highly talented author Bernard Farrell and was first performed at the Abbey Theatre in February 2012.
The play centres around an all-female book club and its decision to invite men to join the group, namely their husbands. The dynamic changes very quickly and daily lives begin to spill over into the discussions. Tempers become frayed. Larry, Robert, Anne, Jennifer, Dorothy, Aisling, and Vincent all have their own things going on and it soon becomes clear that books are the last thing on anyone’s mind.
This is a wonderful contemporary satire, with lots of post-Celtic Tiger anecdotes and is certainly a fantastic night’s entertainment. Under the skilful direction of Billy Nott and the multi-talented cast, audiences are assured a first-class performance.
The play runs for eight nights from Friday February 20 to Friday February 27, and tickets can be booked at (090 ) 6474324 or online at www.athlonelittletheatre.ie Curtain is up each night at 8pm.
