Deputy Gabrielle McFadden has welcomed a total 2015 funding allocation of €6,930,752 for Westmeath regional and local roads.
This funding is part of a national investment programme of €294m which will allow approximately 2,000km of regional and local road to be maintained and strengthened in 2015.
The allocation also includes provisions for bridge rehabilitation schemes and low cost safety projects to be carried out.
“I welcome the significant allocation by Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe who has protected funding for road maintenance and repair.
“The Regional Enterprise Strategy which will be launched in the Midlands in the coming weeks will emphasise growth in the regions and I am confident that improved and well maintained roads in Westmeath can only be an advantage to locals and to businesses,” said Deputy McFadden.
