PCI relaunches counselling service in Athlone

PCI counselling service, a nationwide, low-cost counselling service which was recently relaunched is inviting GPs and community and voluntary services in Athlone to form new partnerships in the area. PCI already provides low-cost counselling in a number of venues around Athlone, in conjunction with community centres, health centres and local counselling services and the number of people accessing the service in Westmeath increased by 25 per cent in 2014.

Those who contact PCI counselling service seek help on a wide range of issues, including anxiety, stress, relationships, bereavement, and depression. Sessions typically cost €10 to €25 and counselling is provided on a completely confidential basis, by mature adults undergoing professional counselling and psychotherapy training. Coordinator Louise Brennan-Moroni says, “The service has grown from strength to strength and we are keen to reach out to more GPs, community organisations, and healthcare professionals who are interested in providing counselling alongside existing services in the area. We are inviting them to contact us to find out more about the tailor-made counselling service that we can provide to their patients and service-users in tandem with the services they already offer. PCI counselling service is managed by qualified, professional therapists who coordinate all client intakes and referrals and counsellors are fully supervised in their work.”
