Join Rosemount’s Alan Mullen for Operation Transformation walk this Saturday

The annual nationwide Operation Transformation walking events take place this Saturday January 17, with one of the programme’s leaders, Alan Mullen from Rosemount, to take part in the local event in Moate. Westmeath Sports Partnership are delighted to get behind Alan and his journey through the RTÉ programme, and his TV crew will also be joining him on the day.

The route starts from Moate Community Centre at 10am, with registration from 9.15-9.45am. The walk will be between 3k and 5k and will be followed by refreshments. Simply turn up on the day with comfortable clothing and your runners on.

Operation Transformation’s resident clinical psychologist Dr Eddie Murphy will also attend the Moate event.

Thousands of men, women, and children around the country will be taking part in a series of national walks this Saturday. Over 13,000 people took part in the national walks in 2014, which are a great way of promoting walking as a fun way to get and stay active.

A walking event will also take place at Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, starting at 10am, and in Roscommon, starting at the Girl Guides Centre, Mote Park, Roscommon at 10am.

Westmeath Sports Partnership are encouraging the people of Westmeath to get behind Alan on his Operation Transformation journey, and for every town, village, community group, GAA Club, etc to organise their own weekly walk during January and February.
