Christmas cheer at Kilbeggan Library as colouring competition winners celebrate

A special presentation ceremony was held for the prizewinners in the Kilbeggan Library Christmas Colouring Competition ahead of Christmas week. The competition was organised by local library staff Margaret Egan and Ray Hussey and the prizes were presented by Gearoid O’Brien, senior executive librarian, Westmeath County Library Service representing the county librarian.

There were eight prizewinners in all ranging from Junior Infants right up to 6th class in the Scoil an Clochair, Kilbeggan. There was a great response to the competition and the standard of the work submitted was very high making the judges’ decision quite difficult. When the winning entries were exhibited on a board in the library it made a very colourful and impressive display.

The winners were: Sarah Ennis (junior infants ), Darren William (Senior Infants ), Jane Colton (1st class ), Weronika Siembida (2nd class ), Kyle McMahon (3rd class ), Patrick Iskra (4th class ), Senan Claffey (5th class ), and Joanne Whaley (6th class ).

Gearoid O’Brien congratulated all the children who took part in the competition and who made it such a success. He also thanked the library staff, Margaret Egan and Ray Hussey, for their hard work in organising the event and the teachers and parents who had supported the children and encouraged them to take part in the competition. He thanked the local press and photographers for their great support for library activities during the year.
