Ford Transit wins 2015 Continental Irish Van of the Year award

The all-new Ford Transit has won the prestigious Continental Irish Van of the Year 2015 award, writes Padraic Deane. Ireland’s long established and top van award is voted for by the specialist van jury of the Irish Motoring Writers Association (IMWA ). The announcement was made at an awards ceremony in The Marker Hotel, Grand Canal Square, Dublin, last Friday in front of the leading figures from the Irish motor industry.

In determining the result, the IMWA van jury vote based their wwvote on a range of criteria including value-for-money, innovation, functionality, reliability, versatility, and lasting residual value. And as has been my practice, I can confirm that I voted the new Ford Transit as my number one choice.

The award was presented by Michael Moroney (motoring correspondent of the Farmers Journal ) chairman of the IMWA van jury to Ciaran McMahon, managing director designate of Ford Ireland.

Tom Dennigan of the award sponsor, Continental Tyres Ireland, said: “The Ford Transit is a worthy winner of the Irish Van of the Year title, ideally suited to the needs of Ireland’s commercial vehicle operators. In the current resurgent commercial vehicle market, we are sure that the award will contribute in no small way to the ongoing success of the Transit.”

Also at the very successful awards ceremony, the Nissan Qashqai was crowned with the prestigious Continental Irish Car of the Year for 2015 title.

The results for the Continental Irish Van of the Year Awards 2015 were independently reviewed for the Irish Motoring Writers Association (IMWA ) by Ernst and Young, Dublin.
