Men’s health event at Vita House

A cancer prevention and awareness evening will take place in Vita House, Abbey Street, Roscommon on Thursday November 13.

It is important to get informed about risk factors of cancer, and what you can do to protect your health. Know your body; look out for any unusual changes, and take action. Early detection and treatment can greatly increase your chances of beating cancer.

To help you with this, the Roscommon Cancer Support Centre at Vita House is holding an open public information evening about men and cancer awareness, prevention, and reoccurence.

The Irish Cancer Society will be giving a talk specifically relating to male cancers, the signs and symptoms, the latest in research in cancer prevention and also how best to prevent reoccurence.

Aa cancer diagnosis can have a big impact on close relationships and guests will hear about the different ways that a cancer diagnosis may affect those close to you and how you might best handle it.

There will also be entertainment by the Roscommon branch of the Something to Sing About Global Survivorship Choir. This group celebrate survival through song and if you feel that this may be something that you are interested in hearing or perhaps even taking part in, then please come along as they will be recruiting new members on the night.
