Permanent reinstatement of the town’s road surfaces following the recent watermains rehabilitaion works is to begin in the coming weeks.
District engineer Pat Nally told councillors at Monday’s meeting of Athlone Municipal District that works would start in the next three to four weeks.
The first areas to be resurfaced are the junction from Sean Costello Streeet to Gleeson Street; Bastion Street and Connaught Street; Sarsfield Square; and the old Galway and Dublin roads.
