Roscommon County Council need to carry out works to improve the condition of the Clonown to Athlone road ahead of the winter months, according to local councillor John Naughten.
At a recent meeting of Roscommon County Council Cllr Naughten highlighted the dangerous condition of the road which he has described as a “traffic hazard that needs to be addressed urgently”.
“This situation has been on-going for a long period of time and I have received a significant number of representations from residents in the area regarding the safety of having the road reduced to a single lane,” stated Cllr Naughten. “This is made worse during the winter months in particular when the area is subject to flooding.
“I have requested that the council would examine the possibility of addressing this situation in the interest of safety,” he concluded.
