Dublin-based band Caruso take to the stage in Athlone’s intimate Passionfruit Theatre next Friday January 23.
Caruso’s four members, Jonathan Berkeley, Ger Meade, Shane Ó Fearghail, and Suzanne Savage, hail from Belfast, Cork, Dublin, and Monaghan. Formed around Shane’s songs, Caruso's debut album The Watcher and The Comet is busy doing the rounds and creating great opportunities for the band at home and abroad.
Since the release of The Watcher and The Comet, Caruso have played Germany, France, Italy, Austria, the UK, and all over Ireland, garnering a strong fan base.
June saw Caruso close out John Kelly's arts show, The View, on RTE 1 (the last show of the series ) with ‘Round the Hardway’, while ‘All Your Features’ was named as song of the week on Ian Dempsey's Today FM morning show in July. In September Caruso were selected to play the Hard Working Class Heroes festival, and also shot their first MUZU TV live video.
Shane also supported Jack L on his nationwide tour and played a string of solo acoustic dates in Germany, Austria, Italy, and San Fransisco in recent months.
Caruso's relentless schedule is set to continue in 2009, when they return to Europe to play their first European tour, set to kick off at the Bleus Autour Du Zinc festival in Beauvais, France in March. This will be followed by more dates in France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Italy. New Zealand and Newfoundland to follow!
