Brown scones
Makes 10
Ingredients
565g plain white flour
85g bran
100g brown flour
1 tsp baking powder
227g margarine
3 eggs
Pinch of salt
250ml milk
1 extra egg for egg wash with drop of milk
Method
Preheat oven to 160C. Place plain flour, brown flour, bran, and baking powder into mixing bowl, add in margarine, and mix until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add in three eggs and the milk - mix to a soft dough.
Turn onto a lightly floured surface, handle lightly, and bring together. Roll out to 4cm thickness and cut out with a round cutter.
Place on a greased tray and brush with egg wash. Place in oven and bake for 30 minutes or until nicely browned.
Cool on a wire rack.
