More events announced for Culture Night

Dancing, poetry, music, and art exhibitions are just the tip of the iceberg of the wide range of activities that will be available to celebrate Culture Night 2014 at a number of venues in Westmeath.

Once again there is an impressive list of artistic and cultural events throughout the county. Among the activities on offer will be walking tours, ghost trails, cake sculpturing, guided tours of Belvedere (by day and by night ), performances by harpists, recitals by the Mullingar Town Band, and the Irish Midlands Youth Orchestra, seisiúns with traditional musicians, bellydancing, and wood carving demonstrations - to name just a few.

Public and private venues in Athlone, Mullingar, Moate, Castlepollard, Ballymore, Fore, Delvin, and Crowenstown will all open their doors and gates with something of interest for everyone.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the public to experience and sample the wealth of cultural talent we have here on our doorstep,” explains Westmeath arts officer Miriam Mulrennan. “Everything is completely free of charge, so people can take their time to enjoy this unique opportunity.”
