Tour of the Midlands for Heart Foundation

Irish cycling legend Sean Kelly was back in the saddle calling for 600 cycling enthusiasts to join him on the Irish Heart Foundation’s Tour of the Midlands with help from Edel Byrne and Ellen McMeel from the charity’s health promotion team.

The former professional road racer is set to lead 80km and 120km charity bike rides in the Slieve Bloom Mountains on October 12 in aid of the national charity fighting heart disease and stroke and marshalled by the Tullamore Cycling Club with support from ISS Facility Services. Sean will also lead the family 12km Kelly Spin. Ready to get hearts pumping Sean Kelly believes cycling is the one of the best ways for all ages to be active. He said: “Biking is a very good source of exercise and can be done from very young to very old. From a fitness point of view and particularly in light of our country’s obesity crisis, cycling is an ideal activity to manage weight gain and boost overall health.”
