Moate Agricultural Show - a great family day out

On Saturday August 23 Moate will play host to its 173rd annual agricultural show.

With just over a week to go organisers are optimistic that this year’s show will be bigger than last year as there is an increased level of interest at this early stage.

There promises to be a large range of classes for competitors to enter including livestock, farm produce, flowers, art and craft, cookery, photography, and not forgetting the dog show. There are also many classes for children - all children who enter into a class will automatically be entered into a draw for six free tickets for the Dublin Zoo.

This year organisers of Moate Show are putting more of an emphasis on creating a great family day out. Children who are accompanied by an adult will again be admitted free. There will be free entertainment for children in the showgrounds on the day. This will include free pony rides, face painting, slides and obstacle courses, exotic animals, animated characters, dog games, as well as live performances from Dancezone and live music and much more throughout the day.

Rohan’s Transport will again be running a complimentary bus from the town to the showgrounds and back and this is available to everyone.

The highlights of the show are the two all Ireland finals - the filly foal final sponsored by A Browne Oil, Moate and the chocolate cook of the year final sponsored by Digans Londis Filling Station, Moate.
