Fun day in aid of Friends of Conor D

Five-year-old Conor Dufficy from Moate had his leg amputated following a tragic accident, and Conor and his family face many challenges in living as normal a life as possible.

In response to the countless offers of assistance to Kieran, Niamh, and Conor, and because Kieran and Niamh’s time is consumed with Conor’s rehabilitation, a committee, Friends of Conor D, has been set up to harness the goodwill offered to the Dufficy family.

Friends of Conor D will hold a Spectacular Fun Day on Sunday September 14, in Don’s Garden in Lower Main Street, Moate. It will be a day full of fun, music, food, and goodwill. Members of the public are invited to take part by coming along on the day, donating, buying a ticket, giving sponsorship, or volunteering. The committee would appreciate any assistance you can give to make this event a success.

During Conor’s hospitalisation his parents were accommodated at Brú Columbanus, a €5.5 million project established by the Knights of St Columbanus and opened in October 2005. It provides 26 en suite family rooms with a supporting kitchen and lounges where families can meet other families in similar situations.

The facility was of enormous benefit to Conor’s parents and extended family as they journeyed through a terrible time.

The launch of Friends of Conor D took place yesterday evening, Thursday August 14 in Don’s Bar. The project has the support of Paralympic champion Mark Rohan, who has met with Conor.
