Centra spent €8 million in Westmeath communities in 2013

Centra spent €8 million in local communities around its 13 stores across County Westmeath in 2013. Centra’s ‘Community Impact Study’ shows this contribution is made through a combination of payments to local suppliers, acquisition of local business services, wages, charitable donations, and local sponsorships.

The study reveals that Centra stores in Westmeath sourced €2.2 million worth of products from local suppliers and contribute over €71,759 in donations or sponsorship commitments to over 160 local charities, community groups, schools, and sports clubs. Stores also spent €242,500 with businesses in Westmeath communities in 2013.

In Westmeath, Centra employ 322 staff, 49 per cent of whom are full-time.

Kilmartin’s Centras in Athlone, owned by Damien Kilmartin, are just two of the 13 stores to contribute substantially to the local community.

Damien said: “We have been in Athlone for 14 years and we’re extremely grateful to all our loyal customers and 54 staff. Last year we were able to donate €7,000 to the Simon Community and we have our customers to thank for that.”
