Helium says cheers to five great years

After five of the most fantastic years of being involved in organising the Helium Music Festival in aid of Ataxia Ireland, the committee has decided to step out on a high for now, in the aftermath of the massive success of Helium 2013.

And to celebrate its success, organisers of the Ballymahon festival are inviting everyone to come along to Skelly’s this Saturday July 26.

The event is three celebrations combined into one - marking achievements by the Helium volunteers, marathon runners, and local business community.

On the night the members of the Helium committee will be presenting the proceeds of Helium 2013 to representatives of Ataxia Ireland.

They will also be launching this year’s fundraising endeavour for Ataxia Ireland. Ten members of the Helium organising committee, along with some friends, are participating in the Budapest International Marathon.

The Helium crew are also delighted to be teaming up with the lads behind the recently launched St Mel’s Brewing Company - who will be having the Ballymahon launch of their delicious range of locally brewed and produced craft beers. St Mel’s is resurrecting the fine tradition of local breweries in Longford and will prove to be an excellent addition to the county’s tourism food trail that is currently being established.

So the event is taking place on Saturday, at the home of Helium, Skelly’s Bar in Ballymahon. The second stage/ Helium Bar area will be serving up top notch craft beers as well as live music and free food with a BBQ.

Music acts performing include the best of home-grown talent with Plutonic Dust as well as a set from Helium’s very own DJ Badseed. More acts will be confirmed on social media in the coming days.

For anyone coming from further afield, Skelly’s is making camping available in the beautiful walled garden that is usually the home of the Helium Main Stage. For comfort seekers, rooms are still available in Skelly’s B&B and Cooney’s Hotel.
