The Gateway Youth Project & Educational Services in Athlone is seeking volunteers who will take on leadership roles and work with young people in the youth café.
Volunteers will get to know the various young people who go to the café; encouraging them to be involved in the youth committee; agreeing rules covering behaviour in the café; involving members in choosing, organising, and implementing café activities; being a supportive presence; attending meetings with the other leaders; organising parental permission and contact with parents; and following Foróige policies and procedures for good practice, child protection, and safety.
Volunteer leaders need to have good common sense; a positive attitude to young people; and willingness to share authority and responsibility with young people.
