Comedy with a local twist back by popular demand

Back by popular demand - Mullingar Theatre Lab presents its second run of their successful production of A Wake in the West (of Mullingar ) in the Greville Arms Hotel.

After a phenomenally successful run first time around in May, with a huge demand for tickets and queues out the door every night, the Greville Arms invited the theatre group back for a second run.

A slightly tweaked version of Martin McDonagh’s dark comedy, the humour in A Wake in the West (of Mullingar ) has been adapted to make it more relevant “hilarious and easy viewing” for the Mullingar audience.

Mullingar Theatre Lab was founded late last year, out of a belief that there should be representation from Westmeath and Mullingar on the Drama League of Ireland circuit. Director Alan Conroy is delighted at the success of the group’s first production.

A Wake in the West (of Mullingar ) runs from June 26-28 in the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar. Early booking is advised, as tickets are limited and sold on a first come - first served basis. Tickts are available from the Greville Arms Hotel.

Mullingar Theatre Lab are also planning a competition to commission someone to write a comedy play about Mullingar or its environs. The winner will receive a cash prize, and the chance to have their play staged by the group and directed by Alan Conroy. For more information see Mullingar Theatre Lab’s Facebook page.

Open auditions for the group’s next production will be held in the autumn. More details of the play and the parts up for grabs will be available at a later date.
