A 6k fun run is being organised by the fundraising committee of Ardkeenan NS, Drum to raise money for the school and South Westmeath Hospice. The fun run takes place on Saturday June 28 starting at Drum parish hall.
Ardkeenan NS is a three-teacher school located in the parish of Drum. The funds raised from the event will go towards the running and the upkeep of the school.
Speaking at the launch of the fun run, a committee spokeperson said, “It’s the first fun run we have organised as a committee and we are very excited about it. We hope to raise much-needed funds for both the school and South Westmeath Hospice.
“Like ourselves, all schools have faced huge cutbacks so this money will go in some way towards filling the gaps. We are also giving a percentage of the proceeds to the hospice. The hospice is a wonderful charity that needs continued support from the community. As a school, we are very proud to be associated with them.”
The fun run takes place on the Saturday June 28 at 3pm. Registration takes place at Drum parish hall from 1pm.
