Lough Ree RNLI Lifeboat Station has had another busy year and would like to invite you to celebrate their second year in operation at their open day on June 21 at 12pm.
The crew will be on hand for meet and greets as well as putting on a display to show how the lifeboat is launched, some of the exercises they do, and how it is then recovered.
Lough Ree RNLI Lifeboat Station went into operation in July 2012 and since then has been one of the busiest stations in Ireland with 29 shouts or call-outs in 2013 and four so far in 2014. These shouts have varied from helping boats that have got into difficulty in a range of weather conditions, to playing a key part of the search and recovery of the missing Portadown fishermen earlier this year.
All RNLI lifeboat stations are run on a volunteer basis and it is through the time and dedication shown by the volunteer crew members and the support they receive from the local community that they are able to provide the community of Lough Ree with such a vital service.
The crew look forward to meeting you on Saturday June 21 between 12-4pm in the station at Coosan Point.
