Grab a bargain at the Taughmaconnell charity auction for Join Our Boys

A charity auction and raffle in aid of the Join Our Boys trust will take place in Taughmaconnell on May 31.

Support is growing and the community is getting behind this fundraiser.

Chairman Ollie Moore has expressed his gratitude to all who have bought raffle tickets and to all local businesses who have donated prizes, items, and vouchers for the auction. “For a rural parish in South Roscommon it is great to see everyone coming together to make this a very successful fundraiser. We have a very dedicated committee, committed to raising much needed funds for the Naughton family and for the continued research into the disease.”

It promises to be a great night, The fundraiser will be held in McHughs Tavern, Taughmaconnell on May 31 with music on the night by Stephen Blake and local talent also taking to the stage including Andrew Kenny who is fresh from TV series Glór Tire.

Some of the items for auction include a signed Irish rugby jersey, a signed Irish soccer jersey, and match tickets. For darts lovers they have a dartboard signed by Phil Taylor, 16 times world champion. O’Rourke Fireplaces, Glasson have donated a marble fireplace for auction valued at €1,290. Local carpenters Donie Moore and Alan Grehan have used their talents and made bespoke pieces in aid of Join Our Boys. Chill Out Firewood have donated a large bag of kiln dried hardwood valued at €190. Al Hayes and Fred Kilmartin have donated vouchers towards services. And Joe Murray, River Street, Ballinasloe; Greens of Ahascragh; Connacht Gold; and Arrabawn co-op have all come on board. Boyle Mills are giving a tonne of animal feed, there’s Pour On from Chanelle Veterinary, and a prize from Pat Dolan Agri Supplies. There will be great variety on the night with vouchers from Paddy Power, Tony Carroll Butchers, Barretts, SuperValu, Dubarry Ireland, Gullanes, Bread Basket, O’Connor’s Food Hall, and Ollie Colohan & Sons. Other highlights include a load of 804 from Mannion quarries and a load of drainage chips from McKeon Sand and Gravel, and a mountain bike from Barry’s Cycles, Ballinasloe and many more.
