On Sunday May 18 Athlone Castle Visitor Centre will celebrate International Museum Day with guided tours in Polish and Italian.
The International Council of Museums (ICOM ) established International Museum Day in 1977 to increase public awareness of the role of museums in the society. Each year thousands of museums around the world take part in the celebration, highlighting the importance of the role museums play in developing society.
Athlone Castle Visitor Centre is proud to be joining the International Museum Day by providing a series of guided tours in foreign languages.
The first tour of the day will be for the Polish community and will start at 1pm followed by a tour in Italian at 2.30pm. No booking required, however places are limited to 25 (on a first come, first served basis ).
There is also 25 per cent discount on all single admissions on the day for those who quote the International Museum Day.
