Croke Park will provide an ideal backdrop for Saturday evening's Leinster Schools Football Senior A final involving Colaiste Eoin, Dublin and Marist College, Athlone.
Colaiste Eoin have been highly impressive on their journey through the province kicking 4-13, 2-12, and 4-10 in three matches. Those scoring returns simply confirm how focused Marist must be at GAA headquarters, but the Athlone side have been diligent themselves to date.
Marist hit a healthy 6-16 total when defeating Wicklow Schools at the quarter final stage and they followed that with 2-15 when comfortably dismissing Good Counsel, New Ross at the penultimate stage in Crettyard.
A brace of goals from Charlie McMicken enabled Marist post an emphatic win over Good Counsel. Marist ruled the opening period and eventually went in at the interval armed with a 1-8 to 1-2 advantage.
After the restart Marist continued to dominate, but they will face a much tougher challenge in the decider as Colaiste Eoin dethroned holders St Pat's Navan at Parnell Park.
It was tight initially in that game as Colaiste Eoin only led by 0-7 to 0-3 at half-time before seizing control when the action recommenced.
Conn O'Cellachain finished the hour with a 2-6 haul, while Fionn O'Riain-Broin and Colm O'Neill also rattled the Pat's, Navan net.
