32 counties in 24 hours for RAG Week

Two AIT students are attempting to reach ‘32 in 24’ as part of RAG Week 2014’s fundraising drive.

Students James Sheridan and Aidan Kelly are planning to drive to all 32 counties within 24 hours during the coming week, with all funds raised to go towards the AIT Student Hardship Fund.

RAG Week 2014 kicks off in the college this Sunday February 16.

The ‘32 in 24’ attempt is just one in a series of events planned for the week to raise money for four local charities - Special Olympics Ireland, Midland Simon Community, Westmeath Hospice, and the AIT Student Hardship Fund.

A silent auction and exhibition entitled Unheard of takes place this Friday February 14 in Abbey Road Artists’ Studios in aid of Midlands Simon.

Staff, students, and members of the public are also invited to take part in the Country Colours - County Colours Fun Run on Tuesday February 18 at 2pm. Participants are invited to run, walk, crawl, or jog just one mile on the AIT running track. Entry is €5 for students, and €8 for staff or members of the public.

A 100km Spinathon takes place in the AIT canteen on Wednesday from 11am, with four teams battling it out to reach the target distance of 100km.

Entertainment in Scribes Bar during the week will feature favourites such as Keywest, Big Generator, J90, Bluemoose, and Amazing Apples, while students can also take part in a Bubble Football contest, Rock n Roll bingo, and much more - all for a good cause.
