All-new SEAT Leon Sports Tourer arrives

SEAT boasts that their new Leon Sports Tourer (estate ) demonstrates that thrilling sports character and exceptional everyday usability do not have to be mutually exclusive. It arrives with an entry level price €20, 185 for the 1.2 TSi S petrol version.

It says that the third member of the Leon family combines the young, dynamic design, and the precise handling of its siblings with an amazing degree of utility.

The generous luggage space of the new compact estate car offers excellent variability and functionality. It has a load capacity of 587 litres, rising to as much as 1,470 litres with the rear seat backrests folded.

“Irish drivers no longer have to choose between sporty and practical. The new Leon Sports Tourer offers both,” commented SEAT Ireland director, Cian O’Brien. “With its new sporty look, its high utility and its state-of-the-art technology, the Leon Sports Tourer defines a new standard in the compact estate car class at an exceptional price. Like the already highly successful Leon and Leon SC, the new Sports Tourer is the perfect representative of SEAT’s brand values.”

SEAT says that the design of the Leon Sports Tourer continues their high level of quality in materials and workmanship. The line-up of state-of-the-art engines is broad, with the power spectrum of TDI and TSI drives ranging from 63 kW (86 bhp ) to 135 kW (184 bhp ).

The Spanish carmaker, which is part of the Volkswagen Group tells us that the Leon Sports Tourer offers extremely economic levels of fuel consumption and this is as a consequence of systematic lightweight design. In the base version, it says that the Leon Sports Tourer has a kerb weight of just 1,233 kilograms, making it the lightest estate car in its class but still offering optimum safety and the best possible comfort.

I haven’t driven it yet, but SEAT says that the new estate from SEAT handles with just as much precision and agility as the Leon and Leon SC. Alongside the S and SE equipment lines, the FR - the most dynamic model variant - underscores the leading position it holds among sporty compact estate cars.

All-wheel drive version to be added

According to SEAT, thanks to permanent all-wheel drive with electronic control, the new SEAT Leon Sports Tourer 4Drive now masters even the toughest road conditions with maximum traction and safety. The Leon with all-wheel drive will come to the market with two TDI engines generating 77 kW/ 105 PS and 110 kW/ 150 PS. SEAT says that both units demonstrate exceptional efficiency, with preliminary data reporting average fuel consumption of 4.5 and 4.8 litres per 100 kilometers.
