Ulster Bank helps Athlone companies get ahead for business

Ulster Bank this week hosted a breakfast business event to help companies in Athlone and the surrounding area plan for 2014 and beyond. The event took place in the Sheraton Athlone Hotel and is part of the bank’s nationwide networking series - Ahead for Business.

The business briefing sessions are taking place in 15 locations nationwide and are open to new and existing Ulster Bank customers. They include information on accessing finance, business planning, and cash flow management.

Speaking after the event in Athlone, John McDermott, head of the Ulster Bank Midlands business centre, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to host the Ahead for Business event in Athlone. Not only is there an abundance of talent in the area, but also some extremely innovative business ideas. The session gave us the opportunity to hear from local businesses so that we can help them develop their ideas and hopefully turn them into a reality.”

The session in Athlone was moderated by Jill Kerby, national personal finance journalist and was well attended by local businesses of all sizes looking to develop ideas and spark new concepts.

Ulster Bank recently announced that it has a dedicated €1.2billion available for business in 2014. Building on Ulster Bank’s existing supports for businesses of all sizes, this is available to both new and existing Ulster Bank customers and is open to all businesses who are seeking finance to support their growth plans in 2014.

John McDermott added: “Every day we see increasing numbers of businesses come to us with plans for the year ahead, and so we are delighted to have the opportunity to support local businesses as the real drivers of employment and economic growth.”
