The new Accelerate Management Development Programme is geared towards owners and managers of Irish micro-enterprises in Westmeath which have been up and running for at least 18 months. Accelerate is aimed at helping local small businesses develop their management capabilities, improve their sustainability, and accelerate their growth prospects.
The programme consists of a series of six specially-designed modules and one-to-one mentoring sessions through which participants will learn new management, leadership, and business skills to carry over to their own companies.
Christine Charlton, CEO Westmeath County Enterprise Board said: In Westmeath in 2013, Westmeath CEB had over 900 participants availing of training and management development supports from the Board. It is hoped that the new training initiative, which is delivered over a six month period, will help existing business owners develop their companies even further and will deliver practical supports on how they can improve their performance.
She went on to comment: “This programme was developed in response to the challenges faced by many small businesses. Accelerate has been designed by the County & City Enterprise Boards to help local small business owners address the business challenges that might be hindering their sustainability and growth prospects. After they’ve completed the initial start-up phase of setting up a new business, it’s vital for micro-enterprises to keep investing in enhancing their business skills, in looking at new products and process development and in ensuring that they are controlling their cost base and maximising new opportunities thus enabling them to sustain and grow their businesses and local jobs.”
